A century of family history. A young man’s conviction and resolve. It all began in 1933.
Tolchandji Kattariya Sanghvi arrived in Bangalore from Rajasthan, with nothing to his name, but a dream. He set about selling cutlery, paper, and stainless-steel vessels, building his trade one customer at a time.
His son, Bhawarlal, was fifteen when his father passed away. There was no time to prepare for what came next. Holding both family and business together, he moved forward the only way he knew how: by learning as he went about it.
In 1963, he made a bold leap of faith into textiles. Milan Distributors was established in a small, 300-square-foot store at Shreeram Market on Avenue Road, Chickpet, selling wholesale fabrics. It was a small beginning, but it carried a conviction that fabric sold with honesty will always find the customer it was intended for.
Milan Distributors reinvented itself in 1991 into Men’s Avenue by Milan, stepping completely into the retail fabric segment. The name included Men’s, because they wanted to continue with their legacy of menswear fabrics, and Avenue, for the very road that had watched them grow, decade after decade. Milan remained the foundation.
The name may have changed, but the values that had kept it going, never did.
As trust deepened, so did their presence. They established themselves at two of Chickpet’s most respected textile addresses, Rajata Complex and Maharaja Complex.
Today, these very fabrics chosen with the same unwavering eye, have entered the online space, making them only a click away alongside ready-to-wear garments crafted to the exact same standard that has never once been compromised.
Some of the customers today are the sons and grandsons of the men who first walked into that original store on Avenue Road. This unwavering loyalty, commitment and trust has not been built overnight. It has been built one honest bolt of fabric at a time, and that is what Men’s Avenue intends to keep doing.
Men’s Avenue.
Decades of knowing fabric.
